In a brand-new implementation there is a minimal chart of accounts that is created automatically. The accounts that are created are based on the features that have been enabled and most system generated accounts can only be activated or inactivated by the system. However, system generated accounts can be renamed and numbered. I would not recommend inactivating the system accounts because this could give you an unexpected error later. If you have already entered your chart of accounts either by importing them or entering them manually, and the account has the same name as a system generated account, the word “system” is added to the one generated by NetSuite. The chart below is provided by Suite Answers, and this will show you the system generated account and how it is used.
As a consultant, I pay attention to the system generated accounts and build the chart of accounts around it. This is especially important on the posting accounts as this feeds your financial reports. Not all system generated accounts are posting accounts.
