For the Employee PTOMS offers:

A Calendar and list view of the details off all time off charged against their account
Employee can see in real time how much time they have,when they have taken and what is pending.
Each employee has access to their own personal workspace which contains a history of their leave requests approved and/or denied by type and date.
Each employee has access to vacation policy documents in .pdf, .xls .doc or any supported Windows file type, employees can only view their personal calendars and leave history.

For the Department Manager PTOMS offers:

Calendar view that are secured and restricted to select users so that department managers see onlythose employees within their group and see a complete absence calendar if desired.
Color coding and filtering of the calendar entries by absence type make it easy to identify and isolatedifferent types of absences at a glance.
Reports can be automatically generated by the system and automatically e-mailed to selected departmental managers and directors providing for current and historical analysis of PTO data.
The hierarchal structure that permits managerial workflow control over the approval of all paid time off (PTO) requests.
A managerial dashboard cleanly displays all pending requests submitted by subordinates whereby a manager can approve or deny requests while viewing the departmental absence calendar and the employee history.
Secondary workflow rules configured within SharePoint then sends the results of the PTO application request to the employee as well as updates the leave balance information within the employee profile when approved.
